A tale of love found and lost, with plenty of laughter, mayhem and music.

Set in the late 1980s, the play revolves around Barry's Farm Supplies store in rural Taranaki.

The six characters include Barry, the shy, single proprietor of the struggling store; country girl Anna, running the family farm for her parents; Anna's more extroverted and streetwise friend Polly; Warren, Polly's self-centred real estate agent partner; Neil, a neighbouring know-it-all, done-it-all farmer; and Neil's university student daughter, Belinda, who isn't the decent little girl he thinks she is.

30 something farmer Anna learns that her family farm has been put up for sale while she was away, and is determined to keep the farm in the family. Barry, the owner of a struggling farm supplies store, has his eye on Anna, but can't seem to get the right message to the right person. Polly is looking to marry the womanising Warren who is always looking for the next opportunity and Neil is looking to buy another farm when his daughter Belinda arrives home from University with just one thing on her mind - so look out! The plot winds through a few sticky situations as Anna learns some shocking news about her family farm's future.

With the help of Polly and Barry, she sets out to save it.

They all end up getting more than they bargained for.

A crazy situation comedy of a play with big hair, big shoulder pads and big phones. Take a rural setting, add in 80's music to get your feet tapping and you have Farm Supplies and Other Lies.
Minimum 3 males and 3 females

Anna - Runs the farm for her elderly parents. A bit rough around the edges but does what is expected of her. Mid 30's to 40's.

Barry - Owner of Barry's Farm supplies. He is a little bit shy and awkward. In his 40's and has probably never had a proper girlfriend. Secretly in love with Anna.

Polly - A Farmer's daughter, who knows little about actually farming. Well dressed but definitely rural. Anna's best friend.

Neil - Anna's Farmer neighbour. Belinda's Father. Male chauvinist, tight with money. 50's or older.

Warren - A real estate agent, Warren is youngish in his 20's - early 30's. Polly's boyfriend, but a bit of a cad.

Belinda - Neil's daughter. In her late teens or very early 20's. A university student who is interested in boys more than studying.

Costuming suggestion: 80's style clothing - except for Anna who nearly always wears overalls and gumboots.
